Biography
As a youngster growing up in New Bern, North Carolina, I won prizes for my art and my trumpet playing. As an adult, I became a part of the music and art scene in New York City.
I’ve been a member of The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra at Lincoln Center since 1977 and have played trumpet for Broadway Show hits such as Les Miserables, The King & I, An American In Paris, Sunset Boulevard, and more.
A sketch pad and paintbox always travelled with me and my trumpet. For example sketching musicians and happenings backstage. And between shows painting on the streets of NYC was an exhilarating experience!
I studied at The Art Students League of New York, and am a member of the Lower Hudson River Valley Plein Air Painters and Coastal Carolina Plein Air Painters.
