Biography
Originally from Kyrgyzstan, Bakhtiar’s lifelong passion for drawing found its true home when he moved from Scotland to Shropshire in 2004. It was within the historic streets of Shrewsbury that he discovered a deep fascination for local architecture and heritage, often drawing inspiration from the nostalgic stories shared by the townspeople he meets.
A versatile and largely self-taught artist, Bakhtiar adapts his practice to the seasons. During the summer, he works en plein air, capturing the spirit of the landscape in watercolour. In the winter months, he retreats to his home studio to focus on oils, exploring a diverse range of subjects including florals, still life, portraits, and figurative works. His unique style in both mediums has been refined through workshops with world-renowned artists, blending technical skill with a heartfelt connection to his surroundings.
