Biography
Berry Fritz is a British-born artist settled in Texas whose specialty is lushly rendered still lifes, portraits, and character studies in the classical tradition. She draws inspiration from the Netherlands artists of the 17th century as well as American artists of the late 19th century. Although largely self-taught, Berry has taken courses at the City of London School of Art, the University of Texas-Pan American, and a recent workshop with Carlo Russo.
Her work has been accepted in juried shows nationwide, including Blossom: Art of Flowers, sponsored by the Susan K. Black Foundation, where she won Best of Show in 2011 . She has been awarded Signature Membership in Oil Painters of America, having been accepted into their annual national exhibitions for six consecutive years. She was also elected a Fellow of the American Artists' Professional League, headquartered in New York City. She has won Best of Show or First in Oils in many international, national and regional juried shows and has earned numerous secondary prizes and purchase awards.
Berry Fritz lives in McAllen, Texas, where she is represented by the Nuevo Santander Gallery (www.nuevosantander.com). Her work is also available through The Good Art Company ( in Fredericksburg, Texas, P & C Art in Alexandria, Virginia, and The Art Agency, McAllen, TX.
Works by Berry Fritz are included in many private collections worldwide as well as public collections such as the International Museum of Art and Science in McAllen, the World Trade Center in New Orleans, The Susan K. Black Foundation, and the Bosque County Conservatory of Fine Art, Clifton, Texas.
Her drawings of animals will be featured in a solo show entitled "Birds, Beasts, And The Saint Who Loved Them" at the Upper Valley Art League in Mission, Texas in May of 2018.
