Biography
I am a member of "Driven to Abstraction" a group of abstract artists showing our work in 6 annual exhibits. I have also had a studio for 3 years in the Poudre River Art Center and now am working in one of 27 studios in a very active art community.
I was born in Colorado and have spent all but about 20 years here. I have been painting since about 1980 and been in workshops with many well known artists. Watercolor was the first medium I used but switched to acrylic and non-objective work incorporating other materials about 30 years ago. I have been fortunate to meet and work with many excellent creative artists while having a studio, being part of mountain shows, participating in 10 week long events in AZ for seven years and attending juried exhibits with other accepted artists. I enjoy travel and always include visits to the best museums and galleries. My work has been published in Southwest Art Magazine and was included in Betsy Dillard Stroud's book on creativity.
You may see my work on Facebook, my website, Fine Art America, and Instagram. And also at studio 106 at 3 Square Art in Fort Collins, CO during their open hours or by appointment.
Artist Statement
Consistently Inconsistent
Every painting is unique,
always striving for that THING - that spark of comfort or discomfort that is real life.
Some of the ideas I return to frequently are:
Nature's influence
The visual language
The connection of painting to music
Emotion as a state of being
The un-nameable
