Biography
Cindy Triplett is a painter who uses the mediums of watercolor, acrylic and oil paint. Born and raised along the West Coast, USA, she now works inside her studio in Ashland, Oregon, focusing on larger pieces, and in the outdoors, painting oils en plein air. A painter since 1978, contemporary abstracts make up the body of work she is creating. Cindy has been taking a transitional approach from landscapes into abstract compositions, drawing from the natural beauty of the environment and balancing the work with strong design elements.
The Talent Gallery in Talent, Oregon represents Cindy’s work, as she is an associate member and contributes new paintings into the gallery every two months. Cindy has received awards from juried art shows in California and Oregon. Her paintings are included in private collections worldwide, including the USA, Canada and Jamaica.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art with a Painting emphasis,and had studied under Robert Alston, Abstract Expressionist, at Southern Oregon University in Ashland Oregon, 1974-1979. Cindy began exhibiting paintings in Ashland, Oregon in 1980. With a Master’s degree in Education from SOU, Cindy taught art education to secondary students at high schools in Oregon and California: Crater High School in Central Point, Oregon and Warner Unified Schools in Warner Springs, California. She has taught watercolor classes through community education programs at SOU, Ashland, Rogue Community College in Medford and through private lessons in her home studio.
Cindy Triplett has judged professional painting competitions, community artists’ shows and school art shows for children. She is currently on the jury committee for the Rogue Gallery in Medford, Oregon. Her work is documented on the DVD “Plein Air Painters of Santa Ysabel, California” a documentary by Peter Maxwell, 2008. She had operated the Backcountry Art Gallery in Sunshine Summit, California, 2006.
