Biography
Colleen was born and raised on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia into a family with artistic talents. Her father was a well known Cartoonist who worked from his home therefore making it very easy for her to fall into his footsteps. At a very young age she was interested in fashion design and made cardboard cutouts of models and designed clothing out of paper that she colored with pencil crayons... no real formal training she began creating art for her bedroom walls, mainly abstracts on canvas. She took art throughout high school but other interests grabbed her attention and design took her into the hairdressing field. A few years later she married her childhood sweetheart in 1979. Shortly thereafter their first daughter was born and a few years later came their second daughter.
Colleen enjoyed making décor and artwork for the nurseries and from this developed a love for home decorating and faux finishing. Throughout the years her passion grew and she also became and avid gardener and photographer. She dabbled a little in the cartooning industry but that wasn't her calling. During her working years, while the children were home, she wore many hats, finding a huge interest in designing homes. Together they built 6 as a family....finally after many years of moving they chose beautiful Campbell River on Vancouver Island as their retirement home and that's when the paint brushes came out!! She is happily creating, in mostly acrylics and water-colour, in a variety of subjects, hence the tag she has given herself of "Moodist"
Recently she purchased a cargo trailer, and together her husband and her have converted it into a Mobile art gallery, named "GirlStreetGallery" which she hauls to the ocean and Markets on sunny days and just wiles away the hours... look for her if you're ever in Campbell River and please stop in and say Hi!!
