BoldBrush Recommends: Dinah Wells

Biography
After completing the watercolor insect series, Dinah Wells switched to oil painting in 2014, primarily plein air landscapes. They are all started on location outdoors. Sometimes that is enough, but they often require some finishing in the studio. She paints mostly around her home in North Guilford and along the Connecticut shoreline, but also enjoys painting trips to Maine and Martha's Vineyard, or sometimes further afield. She credits local artist and teacher Eileen Eder with helping her make the transition from watercolor to oil. Workshops with Kathleen Dunphy, T.A. Lawson, Mark Boedges, and, especially Don Demers have been invaluable. Dinah is a member of the Lyme Art Association, the Guilford Art League, and the Madison Art Society. She is a retired electrical contractor. She lives with her husband and one elderly cat.
