BoldBrush Recommends: Elaine Twiss

Biography
Elaine has enjoyed significant recognition by both peers and clients in her 40 year tenure as an acrylic artist. This self-taught artist was drawn to art at an early age and combined that interest with her fascination with detail to create her current acrylic paintings.
A California native, she has achieved both local & national recognition with showings in galleries and art venues from California to New York. She has been the focus of many One Woman Shows and has been juried into the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts for 18 years. She is a member of the International Guild of Realism. Her paintings have been published in the French Artist Magazine Pratique Des Arts, Hyperrealism Magazine, The Acrylic Artist Magazine, North Light Books Acrylic Works 4, North Light Books Acrylic Works 6, Acrylic Works 12 The Best of Acrylics, Magazine. Three month Artist Residency at the Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, San Clemente, CA
When she considers an idea for a painting, she acquires the objects, arranges them until she achieves the image she's looking for, photographs the arrangement, and replicates the image onto watercolor paper. Then she begins painting, making adjustments to achieve her vision of the piece. The acrylic paint is thinned until she reaches her desired consistency, at times applying several layers of paint to achieve the desired effect. This approach leaves no room for error as once it's applied it cannot be lifted or removed to make corrections.
Elaine is driven by her love of art and considers it a privilege to be a working artist.
