BoldBrush Recommends: Elizabeth Pollie

Biography
Elizabeth's personal art history extends back decades. Art as a path, a language, and a personal frontier has been present from the time of her childhood. She earned her BFA from The College for Creative Studies, where she later taught. Pollie also worked as a freelance editorial illustrator and was nationally awarded. Later as digital images replaced those that were traditionally created, Elizabeth's interests turned in the direction of representational painting.
Her paintings find their power in discovering the extraordinary in everyday life. Elizabeth's work has received a strong reception in the art world, collecting numerous awards as well as media coverage. Her work resides in numerous collections throughout the country.
In her own words:
"As a child, picture books were my conduit to other worlds. Nature was another. I believe, imagination is the child's muse and primary architect. As an artist, departing from the literal and exploring nuance and mood finds its ties within the same kind of connection to wonder and fascination. The artist Paul Klee said, "Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible." Finding "significant wonder" through light and shadow, color and design, and quiet contemplation are touch points in my process. It's a good life full of profound intimacy and an untamed sense of curiosity."
