Biography
While I have always loved to draw, and, over the past twenty-five years, have had the good fortune to take various pastel workshops with my mother, an established pastel artist (www.joycelister.com), I began painting in earnest starting in 2020. Painting has been a much-needed creative outlet and I have been excited to experiment with different techniques, pastels and surfaces.
My goal is to have my paintings capture the feeling of a particular time and place. I have always been fascinated by the way that artists portray the quality and temperature of light, and as a pastel painter, I continue to be drawn to scenes where the light is the central character. Whatever I am painting - from landscapes, both natural and manmade, to figures, animals, and portraits - I’m always striving to render the light I see onto the surface of my artwork.
