Biography
The short version of my bio: I love painting cats and people.
Oil painting (and also acrylic painting) has always been a great love of my life. I started taking oil painting classes when I was a teenager and never looked back!
Born in the Los Angeles area, I attended Otis College of Art & Design, where I studied under many wonderful teachers such as Burne Hogarth (for figure drawing and anatomy) and Jim Morphesis (for painting). I also took many classes at Glendale Community College in Glendale, California, before and after attending Otis. (Glendale Community College was the inspiration for the series “Community“! I love to brag about that even though I had nothing to do with it!)
I took many figure drawing and ceramics classes at Glendale CC, studying under ceramics teacher Robert Kibler and figure drawing teachers Robert Brown and Caryl St Ama. Because ceramics is also another creative passion, I have a kiln and potter’s wheel. My ceramics work has been shown in various galleries and shows in Southern California.
More recently, I was fortunate to have attended some painting classes and workshops under the fabulous Adam Clague.
My favorite subjects to paint are cats (domestic and wild) and portraits, though I also enjoy painting landscapes. I’ve entered into various contests and competitions through the years. I occasionally get a “Fav 15” nod from the Bold Brush contest and I’ve been a finalist at NOAPS a few times, as well as gotten some recognition at more local art shows.
