"I always feel awestruck when an artist can truly capture light. At capturing that light none can do so better with a figure than Vermeer, or in a landscape like Turner. Few capture expressions with a single brush stroke as Sargent, or illustrate the complete scene with richness of color and figures better than N.C. Wyeth. Cassatt's ability to portray the warmth of a mood is amazing. The Hudson River School artists' ability to portray the scale, atmosphere and light of the landscape before them has always left me with a passion to do the same. There is so much to learn from all the masters."
Hitt returned to Florida from Washington State in 1995, residing since in Venice. Raising three children as a single parent from 1998, opportunity arose in 2013 to take on the next season in her life. "Bottom line, I wouldn't have been able to make it out my door, or back to my door without family and friends. I am blessed with more of them than I deserve. I owe them a LOT! These are debts of kindness and finances that I am looking forward to repaying. I have jested that 'baby turned 22 and momma took a road trip' - a really big road trip. My 82-year-old dad and 22-year-old son were placed in charge of my house while I was away. Little did they know, they both were in charge of keeping an eye on the other. It seemed like the best plan at the time, filling a need for each of us. So, home-front taken care of: Check." Karen Ann, Hitt the road!
