Biography
Welcome to my website! I live in the Texas Hill Country and the mountains of Colorado and paint life and light in a realistically impressionistic style. I explore a variety of subjects-- whatever the light makes beautiful or interesting. I want to convey my experience of the subject, using the amazing language of oil paint. I find that painting from life and alla prima (while the paint is wet) allows me to best express that impression.
I have studied with numerous incredible and generous artists, including Kathleen Dunphy, Kelli Folsom, G. Russell Case, Don Demurs, and Kevin MacPherson, and am so grateful to Kathleen Dunphy for mentoring me since 2017.
I am passionate about nature and spend time in it daily-- hiking, biking, skiing, or snowshoeing. I especially love painting on location (en plein air) with my border collie, Frisco, and I am always up for a plein air adventure wherever life takes me!
I also enjoy creating still lifes in my studio, combining the natural beauties of fruits and flowers with objects of timeless beauty. I want to express the communication of the objects with each other and my connection to them.
Art brings so much joy and beauty into my life! Thank you for letting me share that with you!
