BoldBrush Recommends: Kate Grandin

Biography
Kate Grandin is a New York City-based painter and sculptor, also spending time in the East End of Long Island. Her artistic journey is marked by diverse creative experiences that enrich her unique and evolving artistic language. Kate earned her Bachelor of Science in Studio Art with a focus on sculpture from Skidmore College.
Her early training in sculpture profoundly influences her painting style. Kate utilizes materials like solidified acrylic, burlap, and glass to capture the perceptual and sensory transformations she undergoes. Her portrait series delve into metaphoric expressions of inner spirit, while her sculptures-solid and introspective-maintain a grounded presence. Kate's use of color is deliberate and evocative, adding depth and emotional resonance to her compositions. In her recent works, influenced by the serene landscapes of the East End, she embraces the region's light and vistas, often distilling visuals to their core essence, with a focus on line and tone.
"As a lifelong artist, I have gathered, crafted, and explored various materials that I believe convey a visual message. "I draw viewers into an immersive and contemplative visual dialogue."
