FASO Collector Recommends: Ken Vonderberg

Biography
Ken Vonderberg has been a full-time artist since retiring from teaching in 2012 and works from his home studio in Shorewood, Wisconsin as well as a photo studio in Milwaukee. He works in various dry media as well as oils and acrylics and creates fine art woodburning (pyrography) as well. He is particularly interested in portraying the human face and figure.
Ken received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Layton School of Art and Design (now MIAD) in Milwaukee in 1968. He was a commercial interior design for 25 years in Milwaukee and St. Louis and owned his own design firm. He was the Interior Design Director for Engberg Anderson Architecture before becoming an educator. Ken was a full-time faculty member at Milwaukee Area Technical College for 19 years in the Interior Design program where he taught many courses in drawing, sketching, design and color theory. He has also taught continuing adult education art and design courses at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, WI.
His work has been juried into a number of regional and national exhibitions. His work is displayed by David Barnett Gallery in Milwaukee, WI, the Richeson Gallery in Kimberly (Appleton), WI and Olson House in Shorewood.
Ken is a Professional Member of the Wisconsin Visual Artists (WVA) as well as a member of the League of Milwaukee Artists (LMA), The Shorewood, Wisconsin Artists Guild and The Rogues Artists Group. He is also a volunteer member of the Village of Shorewood, WI Public Art Committee.
