Biography
Born and brought up in Mumbai, I have spent most of my days traveling through the mosaic of mesmerizing chaos the city offers. The crowded local trains, the beggars on sidewalks, classmates and all humans coming into my range of vision intrigue me and hold the value of potential subjects channeling the concepts of my paintings.
I have always been fascinated by the human form and personality. The body narrates experiences through its mere existence. I attempt to depict the unique and diverse impressions people leave on my mind when I interact with them. My paintings are based on day to day life scenarios influenced by the observations I make regarding the people surrounding me. I try to treat the human form as a “part” of an entire situation I portray on the canvas. I like to experiment with atmosphere, light and its effect on the elements in the painting.
My vision for the future portrait based paintings I paint is to create an amalgamation of composition and concept supported by skillful realistic rendering of the human form.
Being a girl and being a part of the society, many experiences, memories and observations regarding the culture, people and society of India have been deposited on my psyche. The life of females, according to me, hold many layers of existence, each layer revealing its own set of struggles, emotions and incomplete ambitious desires. I attempt to involve and reveal these observations through my thoughtful perceptive interpretation of these events through my paintings. To achieve the same, I constantly experiment with different mediums, compositions and ways of application that visually and conceptually support my expressions.
