Biography
I find inspiration in the beauty of nature. I grew up on the beautiful west coast of British Columbia. As a young man I traveled extensively: working on a ship, hitchhiking, and traveling by buses, trains, and planes to make my way around the world. Much of what I experienced visually and emotionally while traveling makes its way into my paintings.
It is my hope that, by depicting the beauty of creation, others will remember that feeling of awe and peace that we often experience when we stop to watch a sunset, or to observe the play of light dancing on water, or when we simply take the time to observe sun and shadow sweeping across a valley. It seems to me that everything that inspires a sense of wonder in our lives, and lifts us out of our daily working world routine, is meant to be a reminder that we are a part of the beauty that surrounds us.
My work has been published in several notable art magazines and books including the Plein Air magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, the Acrylic Artists magazine, the Artists Magazine, the International Artist magazine, the North Light art books “AcrylicWorks 4” and “AcrylicWorks 5”, the Canadian publication Blank Spaces and the French publication Practique des Arts, amongst others.
I am a Member of the Board of Directors for the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and a Signature Member of both the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society and the International Society of Acrylic Painters, and a past member of the Board of Directors for Artcite, an artist run/government sponsored art gallery in Windsor, Ontario.
