BoldBrush Recommends: Olivia Alexander

Biography
Olivia Alexander is an accomplished artist with nine years of dedicated art training. Specialising in contemporary mixed media, Olivia's inspiration comes from the oceans and coastal landscapes of Australia.
In her art, the shimmering expanse of the oceans and coastlines come to life. Her works vary from abstract ocean acrylic paintings to delicate multi layered pieces infused with 23 carat gold or silver leaf, polished shell and ochre pigments sourced from the Australian coastline.
These vibrant paintings capture the fluid grace and delicate ecosystems of the sea.
Creating art for over 40 years, Olivia Alexander has gained recognition for her unique artistic approach. Since 2002 she has shown her work in over 75 exhibitions worldwide.
A recipient of multiple international awards, she has also received Bronze, d'Etain and Silver diplomas from the Société Académique of ARTS, SCIENCES & LETTRES Paris, 2012- 2022, in recognition of her art career.
Olivia Alexander works from her Gold Coast studio in Queensland.
Artist's Statement
The Ocean is my Muse.
The rich, golden sand of the Australian coastlines beside azure and turquoise blues of the sea. Secret worlds within the tidal pools, or the colours of a sunrise playing across the rock face on the sandstone cliffs.
I endeavour to tell a 'story' about the landscape, to take the viewer on a walk beside the ocean. I use emotion, impact and colour captured visually into abstract naturalism.
Naturally formed textures, shape and pattern are what I look for. The materials and the layering of my signature mixed media techniques reflect this.
