Biography
I’m an American Impressionist, Texas native, who has a rich portfolio that encompasses landscapes, coastal scenes, urban settings, portraits. I currently live in the Hill Country, in Austin, TX. I started in sketching and painting outdoors which lead to a love of painting on location for many years. I currently do a mix of painting on location and studio painting. I emphasize movement, light, and the emotional essence of a scene, sometimes making bold, textured works with sculptural layers of paint, while other times making detailed renderings creating realistic depth and intensity. Lately I have added a more abstract approach with loose, gestural strokes that capture immediacy and spontaneity and shape-driven compositions that experiment with color harmony and rhythm with different palettes. Through each medium and style, my goal remains the same: to create art that connects the viewer with a moment in time, a place, or a feeling. My work balances technical skill with expressive freedom, inviting collectors and audiences to experience the world in a new light. I am a national award-winning artist with paintings in private and public collections. Current paintings are seen in select Galleries in Texas.
