Biography
I combined my love of creating art with my career in elementary education. Inspiring by example, my students found art activities interspersed into their general curriculum, forming multi-media connections to their learning. Our hallways and bulletin boards were always complimented for the beautiful, creative work of all the children.
Having the opportunity to express myself through my work has led to a concentration in the Intuitive Abstract style, using a variety of painting tools and media. I use colors, lines, forms, textures, and patterns, along with emotions, to share visual language which is interpreted differently by each viewer.
I love interacting personally with the attendees and other artists at local events. I have participated in Art on the West Side, St. Matthew's Art for Inspiration, and Martin's Masters Fine Art Show. I displayed my work at numerous venues over many years at the Franklin Art Scene as well as the Franklin Main Street Festivals. I had shows at the Williamson County Main Library and had work at the Bellevue Branch of the Nashville Free Library. I have been part of numerous group shows at the Gordon JCC, as well as having a solo show there. I am frequently asked to donate paintings for silent auctions for charity events.
I have been a member of Tennessee Art League, Arts Bellevue, Arts Council of Williamson County, and Williamson County Cultural Arts Commission.
In the relatively short time that I have been entering, my paintings have been chosen numerous times as part of the favorite 15% on the FASO BoldBrush Contest and I was awarded a "Most Outstanding Acrylic" award.
I continue to take classes and workshops from local artists as well as online lessons to add to my skills and techniques. Working in a group atmosphere is one of the many pleasures of creating art.
