Biography
Welcome to my website and please let me tell you a little about myself. Ill start as far back as I can remember which in this case would be kindergarten. I do remember sketching little animals and giving them to my classmates. Yes, I was reprimanded but I didnt let that stop me. In fact my teacher wrote something next to my name in our little yearbook which read, " Id like to be a cartoonist like Al Capp, then drawing pictures would be quite a snap " My creative juices followed me all through elementary school as well as high school, thus upon graduation I decided to attend The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY. I chose to become a freelance illustrator because I always admired many American illustrators of the century such as Norman Rockwell, Howard Pyle, and NC Wyeth so my career path was quite clear to me.
I soon began creating book covers in publishing while specifically concentrating on the paperback marketplace. I worked for companies such as Bantam Books, Scholastic Publications, Avon Books, Simon & Schuster, Dell Books, and many others. My work can still be found in bookstores and online. I also taught at many universities and still continues to teach all age groups privately as well. Although I can draw and paint in all mediums I currently specialize in acrylics while concentrating on realism.
In between my many professional paintings I always had a 3D urge and an interest in building, astronomy, and inventions. I read a few Time Life books and decided to totally renovate my parents kitchen when I was 16, read a few book on astronomy and decided to build a motor driven 12" reflector telescope at 23, and as an inventor developed a list of many invention ideas and actually constructed prototypes yet never patented anything profitable.
I've had many local library exhibits and several gallery exhibits in the New York vicinity and other states as well. I was also featured in Artist Magazine and here in FASO for my many adept skills with my current acrylic series of still lifes. " I am quite passionate about acrylic paint and its diversity as well as my ability to control light and shadow which is the basis for any good painting. No other medium affords me the control of acrylic when working opaquely or transparently which in fact represents the true power of acrylics." I hope that you will enjoy the work I have posted here and if you have any questions, by all means, please feel free to write to me and I will address them as soon as I am able. Once again, thanks for stopping by to visit me.
I love the incredible detail he was able to capture! Amazing!
