Biography
Welcome!
Art has played a big role in my life.
I loved drawing and painting as a kid. I attended college at Iowa State University receiving a B.A. in Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration, but have never worked professionally in that field. Instead, I went back to school and have been working as an x-ray technologist for most of my adult life, but I always created art in my spare time.
In 2012 I took a figure and portrait drawing workshop from Paul Davis in Salt Lake City. He taught me so much, I ended up taking his figure and portrait painting workshop the following year. That’s when I fell in love with oil painting. I switched to still-life painting during a mentorship with Sarah Sedwick in 2019 and I’ve hardly looked back. I love how each still life tells a story.
My husband and I live a nomadic life. We are originally from Iowa, but we have lived in Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Denmark. We now reside in Austin. Our dog, River, is 12 and has been a faithful companion during our journeys.
Since we’ve moved so often, I’ve continued most of my oil painting education online. Each person I’ve worked with has helped me grow and refine my approach. I’m a life-long student and am excited to see where my painting journey goes! I hope you like what you see!
