Biography
Sudhi S Pooniyil is a contemporary watercolour artist based in Brighton, UK. Taking inspiration from travels around the world, his work focuses on capturing the atmosphere and beauty of day-to-day life; the poetry of man and nature coexisting. Born and raised in the small seaside town of Alleppey, Kerala, India, Sudhi became enchanted by the medium of watercolour during his adolescence. Surrounded by the music of his mother and the writing of his father, he sought to convey the emotions of the wild; the essence of human struggle itself. Having spent his twenties as a journalist in Mumbai, and his thirties as a travel guide in his native Kerala, Sudhi's journey back to watercolour came through a chance relocation to England. The dense, oppressive streets of Manchester; the languid canal boats of Cambridge; and the Victorian architecture of Hove galvanised the artist within. And it is here, flanked by a community of like-minded people, that he now resides.
