Biography
"As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I enjoy drawing and painting outdoors. Abandoned buildings and old mining towns are an especially interesting subject matter and are scattered throughout the southwestern deserts. The paintings are done loosely with a more finely tuned focal area. I also absolutely love doing portrait and figure work of people and animals maintaining the same style of loose painting putting the detail in the face. The most important thing is to be able to tell a story with the art. The movement of paint with water and its unpredictability is the attraction as it can be used to create life and movement in the subject. Also, with watercolor I find the qualities of transparency fascinating because each layer of paint reveals a little bit of the underpainting. These layers create a depth and dimensionality enhancing the work."
A graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ with an education in business and art she opened the Kubert Art Store. As well as growing the art supply business she also began to paint and continued to study art, initially experimenting with many different mediums and techniques mainly to be able to better help her customers. As time went on she took more classes and developed an affinity with watercolor. Her studies included workshops and classes at the Art Students League in NY, the Animation Guild in LA and many workshops with internationally acclaimed watercolor artists on the east and west coasts. She now resides in California and devotes all her time to painting in watercolor. Many of her works have been included in juried exhibitions both locally and nationally.
