Biography

Valerie B Gobeil is an award winning artist best known for her paintings of the animal kingdom. Her representational work has been exhibited, and consistently sold out, in major art shows throughout the country.

Gobeil grew up in rural Canada, a sketch book and camera routinely in hand, and a plethora of horses, chickens, rabbits and dogs as her subjects. She attained degrees in education and archaeology before living abroad for many years, where she taught languages in Japan, worked for NATO in Europe, and studied orangutan behavior in the rain forests of Borneo.

After moving to Arizona twenty years ago, she decided to pursue her true calling, to become a full-time artist, and studied with some of the most renowned artists in America. Her paintings reflect her vision both in terms of her profound connection with the animal world and her ability to communicate a story, an emotion, that is personal yet universally understood. Her approach emphasizes the blending of realism (the bones of her work), with creative use of composition, brushstroke, and the play of light and shadow to attain that unique "moment in life".
